Biography - Dr Andrea Leong

Andrea Leong is the leader of the Science Party, and was the party's lead senate candidate for NSW in 2019. She contested the Wentworth 2018 by-election, and Kingsford Smith in the 2016 federal election. She moved into microbiome research after gaining her PhD from the University of New South Wales in 2016, for a thesis on antibacterial surfaces undertaken at the Brien Holden Vision Institute. Andrea moved to Sydney in 2011, from Melbourne, where she had worked as a lab technician with the Biointerface Engineering group at Swinburne University after completing a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University in 2008. Her first memory of politics is attending a rally to protest the imminent closing of the small primary school she attended in Dennington, Victoria.
